AMERICAN BANDSAW COMPANY
WHY US
What is a bandsaw?
A bandsaw is simply a continuous piece of flexible cutting material. The first bandsaw was believed to have been invented in 1808, and patented in 1809, by William Newberry. The invention emerged about 2 centuries after the invention of the circle saw in 1777, by Samuel Miller.
Today the bandsaw mill (also known as bandmill and band sawmill) is one of the most commonly used tools in the process of turning logs into lumber. Thin kerf (The thickness of the cut) technology produces higher yields with less waste. The low cost of cutting-bands makes maintenance more affordable. In a word, bandsaw mills are efficient !
Why is American Bandsaw Company a better choice?
When we, at American Bandsaw Company, design any product, we incorporate something special throughout the entire process. That special something is the consumer's ideas and requests. We listen to the people that use our products. In fact, we encourage our proud family of American Bandsaw owners to provide us with feedback. Below we have listed just a few of the elite standard features generated by listening to you, the consumer:
|
Clean Face Sawing: The idea of cutting into the clean face of the log is not new by any means. We actually wonder why anyone would design a bandsaw mill any other way. Cutting into the clean face of the log minimizes the amount of impurities that the cutting teeth come into contact with. This system can increase your band life expectancy by up to 30%. For your first cut, we even offer an optional log de-barking tool. |

|
Heavy-Duty Dual Rail System: "Built to last" is more than just a slogan to us here at American Bandsaw Company. We want to insure that your bandsaw mill stays as accurate as it was on the day it was new. That is why every mill we build has a thick-walled tube frame as its base. Even our smallest mill, The Little American™, is constructed with a tough 4" X 2" steel tube frame. We determine the construction material of a mill by considering the mill's maximum load capacity. Keep in mind that the dual rail system does not permit any hanging weight on the cutting head carriage; which may cause it to sag over time. Rest assured that our design will maintain its sound integrity for the years to come. |

Chrome, Cutting Head Support Shafts: Sure the chrome support shafts look nice; however, they also play an important role in the operation of the bandsaw mill. The chrome prevents rust buildup on the shafts, insuring the smooth operation of the cutting head. The use of brass-bushings further insures that we achieve the operators ease of use. |

American Bandsaw Guides: We feel you shouldn't have to purchase similar high-quality guides independently. That is why we include our premium guides on every mill. Our guides use a roller bearing system to accurately guide the cutting band. The roller bearing system reduces the amount of friction on both the guide and the band. |
|
|
Advanced Design Band Tension System: Some bandsaw mill designs call for a powerful tensioning system. This is simply an attempt to improve their already poor cutting accuracy. We believe that the guides should "guide" the cutting band ; thus, eliminating the need for excess stress on the cutting band. Too much tension on the band could result in the cutting band separating at the weld. Our smart design places only the required amount of tension on the band, and our American Bandsaw Guides do the rest. |

Chain Type Log Turners: On all of our mills (except the Little American) we offer many hydraulic options. One such popular option is a log turning system. If correctly designed, this feature can easily rotate the log on the bandsaw mill. The chain-type turner has proven to be among the most reliable systems available. |
